P:R Roundtable: DC’s New 52 era Earth-2 Designs!I’m part of the regular crew of Project:Rooftop judges and commentators, and here you’ll find us reviewing the new crop of DC Earth-Two costumes. Short version: We’re largely not impressed.
You know, not that I’m complaining, but (BUT!) I love seeing the costume and character redesigns which come into P:R from the enthusiastic amateurs, but every time we get one of these assignments to review the actual, in-continuity redesigns from the big two, my heart sinks a little. The amateurs seem to put so much more thought, effort and ingenuity into their designs than the pros do - there, I said it.
I realize the designs coming out of the actual companies have to endure editors and committees (which is not always a bad thing, mind you, not by a long shot) and the amateur designs can afford to be pure inspiration, but still … I’d love to be wowed, you know?
It is my lot in life to have opinions about things like superhero costume variations from an alternate universe to a newly rebooted universe based on a universe that never really existed anyway, all while not be entirely up on what’s going on in, say, Syria.
